Concurrent CI Sessions in Germany and Saudi Arabia
Sehnde, Germany, 10/10/2004
V-LINE Europe GmbH and customer SABIC, the giant Saudi multinational petrochemicals, fertilizers and metals group, have successfully completed their first ever concurrent CI (continuous improvement) sessions. Continuous improvement in performance and cost is an important aspect of the cross border MRO supply service that V-LINE provides to SABIC plants.
The sessions were held simultaneously at the companies’ headquarters in Germany and Saudi Arabia respectively. While V-LINE key accounts manager Matthias Spannuth was arriving at Jubail to lead the 3rd Quarter continuous improvement session with procurement and operations managers from the participating plants there, Jassim A Al Sayegh and Sami Al Jamil and their SABIC logistics delegation were landing at Hannover Airport near Sehnde.
“The personal exchange of information about bottlenecks, shut down schedules and pending clarifications is of very high value, specially in difficult times“ said Matthias Spannuth “and suggestions coming out of each Jubail visit add guidance and motivation for my entire V-LINE staff .”
The visiting SABIC logistics delegation inspected all service-related functions at V-LINE EUROPE. “This is my 3rd visit here“ said Jassim A Al Sayegh, current leader of the FANAR implementation team and the assigned head of transactional procurement and logistics. “My first visit was 15 years ago and for all this time V-LINE has held the number one position in foreign MRO procurement. Looking ahead, we discussed our new IT environment at SABIC which will further extend real time data exchange and possibly include bar code labelling at V-LINE warehouses” he said. “And we found the new V-LINE proposal to lead a service quality improvement circle for other SABIC suppliers a very interesting suggestion.”
